Focus on the Faith

Beloved,
All of this month we celebrate the Bright Pascha of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Our whole person celebrates with the joy of the Bright Resurrection of Our Lord. In fact, this feast is a continuation and fulfillment of the great Jewish tradition of Passover.
The Pascha joy that once again falls on us is nothing short of the divine miracle of Christ liberating us from the hopelessness of death and suffering to what it means to live - not just exist - but REALLY LIVE!
St. John Chrysostom exclaimed: "Come all and enjoy the Banquet of faith of Christ the Lord!"
Yet, somehow incredibly, not everyone is aware of this profound joy. St. Paul explains that we have become guests not only attending the Kings Banquet for our own personal satisfaction but fill the Heavenly Dining Hall that Christ is known and glorified.
To reach this we have had to put a death through the Lenten season, our own sins. To die to sin is to achieve every difficult change in our life; to become like Him is suffering, trusting God completely to make us as He would wish.
Archbishop Anthony of California (t2003) summed it up best when he said,
"Let God arise and let His enemies be scattered, and let them that hate Him flee from before His face. As smoke vanisheth, so let them vanish; as wax melteth before the fire, so let sinners perish at the presence of God. And let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice in the presence of God, let them delight in gladness" (Ps. 67:1-3). This psalm is particularly consoling for those "who ask God by these very words for help against sin and enemies (demons) who enslave humanity" (St. Gregory of Nyssa). The secret of victory over these foes and tormentors is the heartfelt understanding that we cannot defeat them by our own power nor by ourselves attain a virtuous life; but when we turn to Christ with humility and tearful entreaties for assistance, we will always be victorious. To know the true path toward attainment of virtue is the greatest fortune. The joy of Pascha, among other benefits of Christ's resurrection, is in the resurrection and triumph of good in our souls.”
Our many Thanks to everyone, from the Parish Council, chanters ,choir, altar boys, Myrophores , Philoptochos, and all our beloved faithful who through the offering of gifts time and talents made Great Lent, Holy Week and Paschal season a "Bright Beautiful Festival." Many blessing on your families.
Christ is Risen! Truly He is Risen!!
